Frequently Asked Questions
-
What is a visit like?
The first visit is a comprehensive discussion of your current and past health. I develop an individualized plan including: useful lab tests, supplements to help alleviate symptoms, diet and lifestyle recommendations specific to your case and tips on mental wellness. This plan provides you with actionable tasks that are proven to improve your wellbeing and health.

Do you take insurance or provide a superbill?
At this time Mississippi and the surrounding states do not license Naturopathic Doctors, therefore, we are not able to provide any diagnoses or codes that are required for insurance billing. Typically, you can pay for cash-pay labs, consultations and supplements with a health savings account (HSA).
-
What kind of monitoring and follow-up do you provide to track progress and adjust treatment plans if necessary?
A natural and holistic approach to bringing hormones back into alignment takes time and effort. Because we cycle monthly, women need at least 3 months to see significant hormonal improvements from natural medicine. Chronic and complex cases can take 6 months or longer. However, most clients see improvements in sleep, energy, mood and wellbeing after just 1 month. This gives them motivation to implement healthy habits long term.
During our initial package timeframe, we will meet every 4-6 weeks. After that, we meet every 2-4 months depending on your case. A maintenance plan is typically 2-3 follow up visits per year.

What is your approach to balancing hormones naturally and how is it different from conventional medical treatments?
My goal is to uncover the root causes of your symptoms so that we can assist your body in healing. While we want to improve your symptoms, we don’t want to mask them or just make them go away without discovering why they are there in the first place.
I see disease and symptoms as a signal from your body that there is underlying dysfunction. When we provide the right environment (nutrients and foundations of health) the body has the opportunity to be restored.
-
What kind of dietary, lifestyle changes and supplements do you typically recommend to support hormonal balance in women?
We focus on multiple areas to help the body repair itself. There are no quick fixes for long lasting healing. We focus on the following:
Nutrition
Lifestyle modifications: sleep, exercise, hobbies and fun
Mental wellness - stress and mood have significant impact on hormones so we work on techniques to improve stress tolerance and stable moods.
Supplements may include vitamins, nutrients, botanical medicine and homeopathy

How do you tailor wellness plans to individual clients, considering factors such as age, lifestyle and overall health?
Individualized plans are standard in my practice. Each client receives a unique recommendation based on her specific situation, time available, stress tolerance and investment level. In my experience, clients who receive a one-size-fits-all protocol feel poorly and in some cases health gets worse. I focus on meeting my clients where they are and using reasonable goals for long term health.
-
What conditions and hormonal imbalances do you commonly work with, and what symptoms are associated with these?
Hormonal imbalances can be the underlying issue for conditions like:
Painful periods (dysmenorrhea)
Irregular periods
Heavy bleeding during periods
PMS & PMDD
Estrogen dominance
PCOS
Infertility
Endometriosis
Which can also present with symptoms like:
Irritability, anger
Frequent mood changes
Difficult periods- cramping, heavy bleeding, prolonged bleeding, spotting.
Brain fog
Anxiety or depression
Low energy and fatigue
Skin changes- acne, rashes, dry skin
Difficulty concentrating or with memory
Other transitions like menarche (starting your period), peri-menopause and menopause, can be improved by supporting hormone levels and general health.
-
Are there any potential side effects or interactions associated with the natural therapies you recommend for hormonal balance?
We always review potential side effects and check for interactions with other medications before coming up with a wellness plan for you. Adverse reactions can occur with all medical interventions which is why it is important to have a thorough initial consultation before moving forward with any personalized suggestions. Natural medicines are very powerful and should be treated with care.

How do you collaborate with other healthcare providers, such as gynecologists or endocrinologists, to ensure comprehensive care for your clients?
It is necessary to have a primary care provider or other health professional available to you. This is an important aspect of your healthcare in general. So that when you have acute illnesses you can see a provider that knows your history.
Many clients work with other providers and I collaborate with them to help my clients achieve their goals. I also teach my clients how to advocate for themselves as patients especially for; labs, imaging, medication management, etc. Being an informed and empowered patient makes the experience much easier and pleasant.
